How to Unlock and Lock the Door

The Villa has a smart lock that is programmed to your specific code throughout your visit. Please press the bottom left-hand side of the keypad to illuminate the buttons (House with a checkmark icon). Then enter your 4-digit code provided in your welcome message (The last four digits of your contact number on your booking account). Wait the 2 seconds for the deadbolt to unlock and then you can go ahead and open the door.

If you happen to hit one of the keypad numbers to light up the keypad, this will count as the first number in your 4-digit code causing the door lock to remain locked as the wrong code was entered. This is the most common issue made when using the lock.

The door lock is a smart lock and goes active for the guest at 4PM (Check-in Day) and deactivates at 10AM (Checkout Day) please do not try to access the property before or after these times unless an early check-in or late checkout has been requested as the lock will not work.

When exiting the villa, if you simply press the lock Icon on the bottom right side of the padlock the door will automatically lock.

Should you have any issues with the lock please contact us immediately and we will be more than happy to help you gain access.

How to Join the Wi-Fi Network

To join the Wi-Fi network, turn your smart phone camera on and place it over the QR code located under the TV in the Livingroom.

Alternatively, you can tap the Wi-Fi icon and a link will appear for selection if you phone has NFC.

Once you scan the QR code it will load a page that will have the network name and the Wi-Fi password/SSID. Please copy the Wi-Fi and paste it in the password field when joining the Cali Villas Guest network.

Setting the Thermostat

The Eco bee smart thermostat is preprogrammed to run its regularly scheduled cycles with a low of 70 degrees to a high of 74 degrees during the day when the house is unoccupied.

To adjust the thermostat please tap the temperature number in the center of the screen and then move the temperature up or down as desired.

Once you have reached the desired temperature, tap the blue temperature number in the center of the screen to accept the changes.

There is also a temperature sensor in the Primary bedroom behind the TV to ensure proper circulation within the bedrooms.

There are safety presets that lock the thermostat from going lower than 69 degrees and higher than 78 degrees.  If you need to adjust the thermostat outside these settings, please contact us and we will update remotely.

Please also feel free to reach out if you would like the schedule updated for your stay.

Changing the Fridge Temperature

The fridge temperature control is located inside the fridge at the top front of the fridge compartment.  The temperature dial ranges from 0 (the off position) to 7 (coldest setting).  We would recommend keeping the fridge set to 6 for regular use.

How to use the Keurig Coffee Machine

To operate the coffee machine please do the following steps.

  • Press the power button at the top of the machine.
  • Using the mug you will have the coffee poured into, fill the mug with the desired amount of water for your coffee and then pour the water into the reservoir at the back of the coffee machine.
  • Place your now empty mug on the drip tray at the front of the machine.
  • Pull the silver lever at the top front of the machine up to open the cartridge compartment.  (If there is a cartridge still loaded, please discard).

Bathroom Fan Sensors

The bathrooms have an automatic humidity sensor that may turn on from time to time automatically when a higher-than-normal humidity level is detected.

To turn on the fan manually please press the button on the bottom half of the switch and it will run for 20 minutes and then shut off.

Ensuring the Alexa Devices Cameras are Disabled

All Alexa devices have had the cameras disabled as well as the lenses closed however guests could still reactivate the cameras and open the lenses if they would like to use the cameras.

We ask that you re-disable the cameras and close the lens covers should you choose to use them.

Connecting an external device to the main TV in the Livingroom

Below the TV inside the TV cabinet, there is an HDMI port that is prewired to the TV.  Please connect your external device (I.e., Firestick, DVD player, Tablet, Gaming system) for easy access and DO NOT try to connect to the ports on the side of the TV.

You can also cast to the TV for a wireless connection.

Using the Ceiling Fans in the Villa

To properly operate the fans, please ensure the fan wall switch is on and then pull the gold fan string to increase or decrease the speed. The first click is the fastest speed, second click is medium speed and the third click is the slowest speed.

Using the Hot Tub

In Florida Hot tubs are regulated to only go to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.  We set our Hot tub at 100 degrees in the winter and 95 in the summer.

To change the temperature please use the up/down arrows.  Please note that the hot tub takes approximately 12 to 24 hours to make a major temperature change and the cover needs to be properly sealed around the edges to accomplish high temperatures like 104.

Use the cycle button to turn on the jets and then use the air valve to the left of the controls to increase the bubbles and pressure.

The waterfall massager can be turned on by using the valve to the right of the controls.

To turn the lights on inside the hot tub please press the light button till you find a suitable color or light setting.

If the water level goes below the intake at the filter due to excessive evaporation or splashing, please fill the tub back up to the bottom of the black headrest using the hose at the back of the house.

The hot tub is cleaned once a week by a private company that certifies all the chemical levels. Please don’t be alarmed if you see someone in the backyard cleaning the hot tub.  They are normally onsite for 15 minutes.

* Please remember to cover the hot tub after each use to maintain the temperature and water level.

* Please remember to put the bromine floater back into the hot tub after use.

** Please be respectful of the neighbors when using the hot tub. Quiet time is from 10 pm to 7 am and although we allow use of the hot tub after 10pm, please keep the noise level to a minimum and refrain from shouting over the noise of the jets.

How to turn on the Fire Pit

Florida regulations state that all fire pits must have a child lick feature to stop children from lighting the fire pit.

To turn the fire pit on please follow the following steps:

  • Turn the propane tank behind the chairs to the open position.
  • Depress the dial on the right and while holding it down, turn the dial counterclockwise 25% (1/2 an inch) and press the ignition button below the dial till the fire ignites.
  • Keep the dial pressed down for 5 seconds before turning the dial further clockwise to the safety high position. (This overrides the child lock) otherwise the fire will go out.
  • Now slowly release the dial till you feel that it can turn further counterclockwise and then continue turning the dial counterclockwise and to the desired level and enjoy.
  • Sometimes there can be air bubbles in the line and it may turn off. You may have to repeat the above steps a few times to get the bubbles out and maintain a long burn.
  • Once the fire pit remains lit for 3 to 5 minutes you should not encounter anymore flameouts.

*Please turn the firepit completely off after each use and turn the propane tank valve to closed

*Please do not leave the fire pit running unattended for any reason.

*If the tank runs out of gas, please contact us and we will advise on swapping out the tank.

Parking

The unit has 2 parking spots clearly indicated by the unit numbers.

Please do not park on the road or in any neighbors’ driveways as it may be towed.  We only allow for 2 cars. Any additional vehicles will need to find alternate parking.

We recommend parking down the street at the community center if you need additional parking.

Outdoor lighting

The outdoor lighting turns on at dusk and turns off at 1 AM.

If you would like to turn the outdoor lighting back on after 1 AM we have installed a wireless switch outside ate the fence gate behind the BBQ as well as inside the unit in the pantry closet.

Landscaping at the Property

The landscaper will visit the property to maintain the trees, weeds and clean up the leaves twice a month.

Garbage and Recycling Days

Garbage days are Tuesday morning and Friday Morning. the garbage truck normally comes between 11 am and 2 pm so there is normally time to wake up and put the garbage bins out in the morning or the night before. Garbage bin is the green bin with the blue lid.

Recycling day is Friday morning. The Recycling truck comes at 7 am so you will probably need to put the bin out at the street on Thursday night. Recycling bin is the blue bin with the green lid.
